➛ L1 90-120VAC and L2 208-240VAC -- SAE J1772 AC Charger Standards

Required 40Amp dual pole CB on dedicated (various type) receptacle. Almost all wireless platforms (as a transmitter disk) connected to J1772 charger for now, experomenting with SAE J2954.

Required 100Amp CB. NO receptacle! Must be hardwired to the dual pole CB.

➛ L2 SAE J2954 Wireless Charger Standard

240 11 46 J2954 2013 Inductve-Wireless BMW530e Testing stage 11 KW charger requires 50A standard Circuit Breaker (CB). The Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) has been patented and licensed by MIT. The improving WPT efficency MIT patents started in 2007 from 85% efficiency on the energy transfer. The WPT based on Magnetic Resonance Effect is tolerant to the material (cement, snow, ice etc) and distance between transceiver and receiver. The span could be up to 10 inches w/o any efficiency changes on the energy transmission. There is no broblem to charge your EV in a winter with 10 inches of snow over the transceiver. The WPT charger efficiency now is up to 93% from grid to battery. The MIT latest WPT patent succeedes any similar patents! The SAE J2954 has 4 levels [kW]: 3.7, 7.7 (for sale by Pluglesspower.com), 11 (BMW and WiTricity testing stage). and 22 in the future.

➛ L2 V2G or V2H Bi-Directional Charger

240 20 80 V2G Vehicle-to-Grid Gridable EV V2G can be used with gridable vehicles, that is, Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), with grid capacity. Gridable EV is EV automatically protected against more than 95% DoD (Depth of Discharge) because 100% DoD will cost a lot of money for the EV owner due Sudden Death of the battery pack. Great example is any Tesla EV as a Gridable Vehicle. Since at any given time 95 percent of cars are parked in average, the batteries in electric vehicles could be used to let electricity flow from the car to the electric distribution network and back. A 2015 report on potential earnings associated with V2G found that with proper regulatory support, vehicle owners could earn hundreds of dollars per year depending on whether their daily drive. Also EV owners can provide electricity to their Houses (V2H) in the case of electrical outages by using BEVs.

➛ L3 DC Charger Standards

400 200 500 PLC SAE CCS All EV with a fast charger except Nissan and US Tesla Current CCS standard. Required ~ 0.2 MW of Power and commercial Circuit Breaker (CB). Can not install it at home :). Currently most CCS EV consumes 40kW-90kW during 110-50 minutes to charge up to 80%
1000 450 450 PLC SAE CCS2 2018 Porsche Tycoon 2019, BMW-i4 2020 Required ~ 0.5 MW of Power and commercial Circuit Breaker. Can not install it at home :). The difference between CCS and CCS2 is double Voltage up to 1000VDC. Porsche consumes 350kW during 15 minutes to charge the battery pack up to 80%.
Question: Some remote US towns have just 1 MegaWatt an electric power plant. Guess how many Tycoons will consume entire MegaWatt during the 15 minutes of charging? A: 2!

400 100 250 CHAdeMO CHAdeMO Since 2018 Nissan Leaf 'only' It was propreatory Japanese only standard till 09-2015, it is an SAE standard now. It is less reliable and more complicated than CCS. EU was not happy with CHAdeMO in 2014 and it made many restriction for CHAdeMO in Europe. Nissan dealerships changed all Nissan CHAdeMO fast chargers to EVgo and other companies CHAdeMO chargers in US. Jun 2018 - CHAdeMO Association released its new 2.0 version for 400kW but all Nissans max CHAdeMO consumption is 45kW except Leaf 2020 90kW. Moreover 3 major EV manufactures (Honda, Hyundai and KIA) make all EV cars with CCS for both Americas markets, starting from 2017.

➛ L2 220-250VAC 6-80A World Standard j1772-protocol. Charging US EV in EU

adapterYou can visit Europe with your EV (including Tesla), you just need this adapter cable for AC charging using public chargers and your US j1772 extencion cable, if you have one. You can use your US L2 J1772 charger for overnight charging in motels or RV camps or campsites with NEMA14-50 to 3 pin single phase 32Amp RV outlet. This adapter cable on the picture will also work with Tesla destanation chargers but you need an additional mennekes male-female adapter because almost all public chargers in EU do not have hanging cables except Tesla destanation chargers. And EU EV drivers carry at least two kind of L2 AC cables (Type1 or 2 (US/EU)), so EU policy: "Bring your own cable" but not for fast chargers because those cables are expencive and water-cooled that is why L3 adapter cable (Type 1 to Type 2) is prohibited -- the adapter must be water-cooled or has appropriate enormous diameter to sustain few hundred Amperes
US Tesla is not compatible with Superchargers in Europe and your only option is AC single phase charging. For US L3 CCS EV -- Europe has more Type 2 CCS than Type 1 (US) chargers. You can charge US Nissan Leaf using fast DC charger w/o any adapters or issues.
